We’ve just returned from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to attend the 2019 Tropical Plant International Expo (TPIE) – over 5 acres of exhibition space showcasing the latest trends in foliage and tropical plants and flowers. It’s an amazing opportunity to see a virtual indoor garden full of beautiful products and to connect with existing and new vendors. TPIE offers wholesale buyers like us the widest array of resources for foliage and tropical plants in the United States!
During this trip we also took several days to visit our South Florida grower network. This is so important as it allows us to take private tours of the nurseries we buy from, put our eyes on crops and talk with the growers directly so we’re aware of any issues, shortages, surpluses, etc. We also hand-tag plants and flowers on site to guarantee the highest quality product possible for our clients.
Our operations manager has been working with some of these growers for over 20 years and those long-standing relationships mean Superior Plantings always has access to the highest class of product and is alerted first if there happens to be a pest problem or even damage due to severe weather. We elect to deal with our growers directly instead of using a plant broker service as some companies do. When using a broker, you can lose control over the size and quality of material you receive and more often the purchasing is made on cost alone. Our reputation as a leading commercial interior and exterior landscape provider means we’re not willing to compromise on the quality of the products we provide to our clients ever!
